It’s quite often that I lose track of time while working on my day job. I’m fortunate that my job does allow me to work from home more often than not. Today is one of those days when it feels too late to venture out to grab a quick bite. Not having much time to cook either, I decide to assemble a few things from the fridge and see what I can come up with. Ok, I call it a lazy lunch. But since what I post on this blog might have an influence on someone, I make this a lazy lunch…Gourmet Senses style. That means it is still tasty, aromatic, pleasant looking, and has different textures. Not to mention there are elements of healthy food in the mix, so it is also good for us in some ways, right? Indeed, a lazy lunch can still technically give you a full dining experience. And the best part is that this one takes me less than 10 minutes to prepare.

What’s on my lunch plate (clockwise):

  • 1 slice of country bread cut into 2 pieces, toasted
  • 1 Tbsp of 2008 harvest Bariani cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil for dipping
  • 2 small pieces of my favorite Comté cheese
  • A small serving of arugula with a drizzle of vinaigrette (token healthy item)
  • 1 slice of prosciutto from Applegate Farms
  • 3 oz (a small piece) of Mimolette cheese from Isigny Sainte-Mère

This gives you an idea of some of my favorite things I often keep in the fridge and the pantry. I’m bound to write about these delightful treasures in this blog space. For now, I have linked some of these things to the origin and hope you will find information that is interesting to you. Perhaps next time when you feel like a lazy lunch, you might have something similar and share your ideas here?

Happy eating!

I too work from home and you’ve inspired me to look in my own “backyard” or should I say, “pantry” for a fun and delicious lunch combination the next time I take lunch break and don’t feel like venturing out. I must admit that I could easily be happy with a bowl of fresh arugula with a lemon-olive oil-cumin powder-salt dressing drizzled on top.
